Fiber optic lighting in ATEX zone

Fiber optic lighting in ATEX zone
Thanks to its intrinsic qualities, luminous optical fiber is very advantageous for lighting in ATEX zones in environments as different as the food industry, mining industry, petrochemicals, industrial painting... Indeed the use of fiber light can illuminate or backlight an area in an ATEX environment while deporting the light source outside the ATEX area

Waterproof diffusing light guide on the ground

Waterproof diffusing light guide on the ground

It is now possible to make lighting on the ground, signage on a waterproofresin-based coating. This light diffusion takes place on a contour withoutsupply of electricity thanks to the use of optical fiber diffusing and remote lightsource. This light diffusing guide consists of a set of diffusing fibersinserted into a profile filled with transparent or phosphorescent granules.

Plastic optical fiber weaving

Plastic optical fiber weaving

Several textile manufacturers have started toi ntegrate light optical fiber into their textiles naturally. The first luminous textiles were produced for interior design, hotel decoration or for point-of-sale marketing. Since then, these luminous fabrics have developed fora number of uses far removed from the "designer and decorative luminous fabric”, particularly in the medical field such as the treatment of jaundice or pre-cancerous skin bonds

Polymer optical fiber with large numerical aperture

Polymer optical fiber with large numerical aperture

A multimode plastic optical fiber is characterized by a certain number ofparameters including its numerical aperture. This defines the maximum angle oflight at the entrance of the fiber allowing its reflection within the waveguide. This light cone at the fiber entry also defines its light cone at the fiberexit. A plastic optical fiber with a large numerical aperture will allow thelight cone to be widened at the fiber exit and reduce the radius of curvatureof the fiber. These fibers with large numerical aperture are used inter alia inthe medical environment for endoscopy or ophthalmic surgery.

Reading light in polymer optical fiber

Reading light in polymer optical fiber
A fiber optic reading light provides a reading function in a place where itis inappropriate to put classic lighting in it. The optical fiber then makes it possible to deport lighting by installing a light source with its power supply in a place without risk on its general functioning but also on an environment sensitive to electromagnetic disturbances, or on the safety of materials or people.

Insensitivity to X-rays of polymer optical fibers

Insensitivity to X-rays of polymer optical fibers

Polymer optical fiber is found in various fields such as lighting, data transmission in an industrial environment, sensors, medicine, audio cables. These plastic fibers are made of PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate), a thermoplastic polymer offering very high light transparency in the visible range. These plastic optical fibers also have the distinction of resisting electromagnetic disturbances but also of being easy to handle unlike optical fibers based on silica. They also represent an economical alternative to optical fibers based on silica and are often used to transport light from one place to another. These fibers can be exposed in environments with high radiative stresses.
